Conservation Window Films

GP Conservation Window Films work

GP Systems' range of Conservation window fims meet and exceed museum specifications continuing to perform  well after many years. Other films have been shown to degrade significantly in performance over time (See graph).

UV Window Films Reduce Fading

Certain elements of light cause damage to property causing it to fade. GP Systems offers a range of long lasting products to dramatically slow the rate of fading by filtering out the damaging elements of light.

Warping, rotting and cracking.

Changes to relative humidity result in the warping of hygroscopic materials which when over time can result in the material cracking. Changes in relative humidity are triggered by changes in temperature which can be reduced by the application of GP Systems window films

Theft and vandalism.

Conservation often involves rare, valuable or unique items that make attractive targets for theft and vandalism. The FBI estimated in 2005 that around 4.5billion pounds worth of art gets stolen around the world each year with most of this being from private collectors.  GP Systems high performance security range of window films and edge retention systems make windows difficult to use as points of access and anti-graffiti films can be used to protect the appearance of your building.

Glass Damage.

There have been numerous incidents of glass fragmenting ruining art. A high profile incident is the damage caused to the painting of The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne and John the Baptist. The painting was shot at but the rounds did not directly damage the painting. Instead its protective glass shattered projecting shards through the painting.

Plastics become brittle.

GP systems window films provide a long lasting solution to brittleness in plastics caused by exposure to Ultra-violet light.

Solutions:

  • Window Films
  • Addition of blinds or curtains
  • Instillation of a dehumidifier
  • Addition of Ultra-violet (UV) filters to lighting.
