Glass Retention Window Films
Protecting Property from Blasts, Intruders and Vandalism
Bomb blast protection and security window film is an established method of protecting staff from flying glass injuries in the event of an industrial or bomb blast, while providing additional security against intruders attempting to enter your premises.
In the event of an impact or blast, the window film will save lives, reduce injuries and protect your property from damage, but the entire pane of glass can break from the window frame under such forces.
When glass breaks lose of the window frame the integrity of the building is compromised, security is breached and the negative pressure phase of a blast can suck sensitive documents out of the building.
Window film edge retention keeps the glass in the window frame, reducing risk to your staff, damage to your property and glass contamination of your stock, while preventing intruders and maintaining security - all helping to keep your business trading immediately after the incident.
Methods of Window Film Edge Retention
There are several methods of providing edge retention for bomb blast protection window film. Choosing the right one depends on the window film, the window frame design and the type and level of risk to your building.
As window security experts we are here to help you make that choice - contact us today to discuss your requirements.
Wet Glaze Edge Retention
The internal gaskets of the window frame are replaced with Dow Corning Silicone Structural Adhesive to bond the security window film, glass and window frame together at the edges.
Glued Mechanical Edge Retention
The security window film is attached to the window frame by an adhesive strip of edge retention material running along the edges of the window.
Screwed Mechanical Edge Retention
The security window film is trimmed to overlap the window frame on one, two or all four sides, and is then clamped to the window frame at a 90 degree angle using metal bars screwed into the window frame.
A Revolution in Window Edge Retention
The edge retention methods above can withstand between 4-10PSI of blast pressure, but Ultima No Bar Window Defence System uses a unique patented mechanism to take window film edge retention to a new level.
Capable of maintaining building integrity after an incredible 30PSI of blast pressure, this is the ultimate bomb blast protection and window security solution.
